Statement: I was born and raised in the US with high academic achievements,
but I did a lot of growing up in the past eight years, which I spent learning
kendo (Japanese fencing) in Japan. I am currently striving to express raw
feelings and impressions, without chaining them to design, aesthetics, and
the constant drive for innovation. This reflects my reception of Janapese
cultures: the strive for purity in traditional arts (including martial arts)
alongside the individual search for freedom within the Japanese Machine (reflected in
Japanese counterculture, including hardcore punk and the Slow
Movement, which questions the meaning and value of progress).
